It's the beginning of a new week, and I've decided to make a bit of promotional material — buy a small scoop of ice cream for a creamtopus, get a free small scoop in return. So far, it's turned out to be quite the lucrative deal for both baos and creamtopi alike. I've already run out of my allotted stock for today! Going forward—at least for the rest of the summer—I'll have to order a wider range of frozen treats.
Also, I've put some chocolate wafer sticks in the freezer for a minute and let my two odd creamtopi friends try them out. They seem to enjoy it so much, they've taken the container to their friends. I do hope that container ends up in the proper disposal bin eventually…
After watching me dispose of enough beach trash, it seems that the creamtopus group that frequents my café have begun doing the same. It warms my filling to see a tower of creamtopi tug along a bag of trash to properly dispose of it elsewhere. Mayhaps the treats they receive as rewards help to motivate them, but… they're doing fine work, so no qualms here.
Additionally, some creamtopi—like my weird mark friend and my chipped cone friend—have begun to bring me lost items from visiting tourists. Oh bao, what am I going to do with these…
I've quickly taken to setting up a lost and found section in my café for all the trinkets that the creamtopi keep bringing in. It's done well for business; folks who come in looking for lost items, end up buying a drink or two… and if something stays lost for a while, I plan to eventually take them somewhere they can find their owner properly.
I do wonder if these creamtopi know what they're doing… at this rate, mayhaps they could even start serving food or take orders. Or perhaps I'm dreaming at this point…
Last night I had a dream that a giant creamtopus wreaked havoc on the beach and there was naught we could do but lure it into the ocean with a giant scoop of mango sherbet. Thankfully, this was not the case in our true reality; the beach was just fine, and the creamtopi did all their tasks as usual.
Oh bao… is it bad that I'm starting to think of these little ones as employees? Do I need to think about paying them wages? Uhh… at least for now, they seem to be satiated with summer spring rolls.
The weather has cooled down ever so slightly, so more baos have been coming out to the beach to see the creamtopus and catalog their migratory patterns. Their goals seem to be similar to mine, in a sense? I may be too nervous to directly converse with these other beachgoers, but I can make small talk if they decide to come buy creamtopus treats from my cafe.
My odd mark creamtopus friend stopped by today, but not the chipped cone one… though my creamtopus companion only stayed for a moment to grab an ice pop before retreating. Maybe that was a to-go order?
