[1] ★ INTRODUCTION
Baobears are a species of small, palm-sized dumpling bears created with love and magic. Baobears are closed species, which means you need permission to create one and have them be "official"! By making an official baobear and participating in this site, you agree to follow all the terms and conditions of this site.
So, how are baobears made? A baobear's life essence comes from the baoberry, a rare fruit whose origins are as mysterious as a baobear's mind. While most baobears are handmade, there are some that emerge naturally from the wild. However, no one knows how, where, or why this happens exactly. What is known is that all baobears are born with an empty stomach, and a healthy appetite!
NOTE: Many baobears are created as companions and helpers by and for other species. These other species are 'non-canonical' and cannot be used to claim in-game rewards or for prompts. In terms of gameplay, we assume your baobear currently lives in the baoniverse with their fellow baobears, separate from other species. We also assume your baobear follows the lore listed in our guidebook.
With regards to lore outside the game, of course you are free to get as creative as you want! We do not monitor this and won't limit you. For example, areas the baoniverse can be part of a larger continent, an island, or whatever fits your own universe!Â

[3] ★ from humble beginnings...
 Let's try making a baobear!Â
First, we should think about what kind of baobear we want to end up with. The filling of your baobear often play a major role in determining the appearance and personality of your baobear! For example, baobears with chili filling are can have quite fiery temperaments. Common ingredients include anything edible, such as meat, vegetables, eggs, and rice!
Prompt: Draw or take a photo of 3 potential ingredients your baobear will be filled with. Alternatively, write a 50 word description for each ingredient (ex. what it is, how it will effect your baobear's appearance or personality, why it is significant, etc.).Â
- Art: drawing must be of three individual items, labelledÂ
- Photo: must be taken by yourself and include a piece of paper with your username.
- Writing:Â 50 words per item, for a total of 150 words.Â
Once preparations are done, your baoberry is ready to be steamed!Â
Where was your baobear made? Were they made in a famous restaurant, a street cart, at home in a kitchen? Were they made by a professional chef, a mysterious sorcerer, an old grandma? Were they made the traditional way, through steaming, or something more unconventional (ex. microwaved, brewed in a cauldron)?
Prompt: Draw or write about a scene of your baobear's origins. Focus more on the environment/backstory aspect for this prompt.
Requirements: Follow the default art & writing requirements.
All baobears are born with an empty stomach, and a healthy appetite!Â
After steaming, a baobaby will be born! Baobabies are usually quite flat with little to no colour. They’re very small and delicate, so be careful with them! At this stage, baobabies do not have much personality and mostly act through instinct, which is telling them: time to eat! What is your baobaby craving?
Prompt: Draw or write about a scene of your baobaby eating their first meal. This can be a food and/or a drink. The baobaby should be included.
Requirements: 1 coloured fullbody or 200 words.
Now, your baobear is ready to take on the world!Â
Baobears are full of wanderlust, and are always on the hunt for new tastes and cuisines. Where will they go? What will they find? What will they try first?
Prompt: Draw or write about a scene of your baobear in a foreign place in search of 'exotic ingredients', ex. the beach, the jungle, the local supermarket.
Requirements: Follow the default art & writing requirements.
The universe is a very dangerous place... what obstacles will your baobears face?Â
Where have they ended up now, and what troubles have they gotten themselves into? Will they overcome it, or be overcome by it? Will they be able to open their pickle jar, or will they starve?
Prompt: Draw or write about a scene of your baobear facing a seemingly insurmountable challenge! Will they triumph, or fail?
Requirements: 1 coloured fullbody or 200 words.
They often say the more the merrier!
Of course, baobears have relationships outside of food. Does your baobear have a lot of friends, or enemies? Are they an extrovert, or an introvert? Do they like interacting with other baobears?Â
Prompt:Â Draw or write about your baobear with another person's baobear (NPCs do not count). Make sure gift art/gift writing is allowed, or you otherwise have permission from the baobear's owner. Check the recipe card for volunteers.Requirements: Follow the default art & writing requirements.
A baobear's life is full of excitement, but it's also very exhausting!Â
For baobears, sleep time is the perfect time to have a rest, and dream of a better tomorrow. Does your baobear have any career goals, personal goals, dreams, hopes, plans? Will they look the same, or will they have different traits?Â
Prompt:Â Draw or write about your baobear's hopes, plans, or goals for the future.
Requirements: 1 coloured fullbody or 200 words.
Congratulations on reaching the end!Â
