Leaf Collecting

Bonnie smiled as she could hear the crunch-crunch of leaves beneath her feet.

These weren’t the leaves she was looking for, though - she had a small tradition that every fall, she’d find some of the few perfect fall leaves to press in a scrapbook and add to her collection! Of course, any leaves on paths that baos tend to frequent were sadly out of the question. Even if they had a good crunchy sound, they were too broken-up and damaged by the traffic to be preserved! At least they were still fun, though.

She was going to have to look hard to find some good ones for her collection! She usually liked to find leaves that not only had fun shapes, but also fun colors. She usually found the best ones by checking out leaf piles that were raked up by other baos, but this year, she wanted to try out something different by going somewhere a little less populated! She always got sad when a really good leaf had holes in it from being raked up, so this would probably fix that problem…

Oh!

She was getting so lost in her own thoughts that she hardly realized where she was walking - she almost bumped into a tree! Oops… actually…

She leaned back to look up at the branches. There were still a few stubborn leaves still hanging onto it, and they looked like they were in great condition! Maybe if she did bump into it, that would give them just enough encouragement to fall down!

She grabbed onto the tree, giving it a light shake. A few leaves fell… but none of the big, pretty ones she wanted. Hmm… she didn’t want to hurt the tree or anything, but a harder shake probably wouldn’t be that bad…

She gave it a slightly bigger shake, and… oh! Only a few leaves fell, but this time… a really big one did!

She walked over to where it landed on the ground, and picked it up - it was bright red, and huge! Even if she didn’t find any other leaves, this would be a fantastic addition to her collection!

She quickly put it in a plastic bag, tucking it away to preserve it - and then took a look around. There were so many other trees around here… she could probably get a few more good leaves if she went around and just shook a few!

New mission in mind, she set off - to collect more good leaves!
