Ice Cream Treats

“Hmm, I’ll have— no, wait, maybe that one— oh, but this one looks…”

Bonnie hummed and pondered over all of her choices. Summertime meant that ice cream trucks were coming back to New Bao City, and with them came so many decisions! Did she want the popsicle, or the silly character-based ice cream with the wonky eyes? Or maybe she wanted a cone…

“Um, excuse me, but— I know you want to take your time, but a line’s started to form…”

Oh, gosh, has it? Bonnie had no idea! She was shocked to look back and see the other impatient baos waiting for her to make her choice. Oops! She didn’t mean to cause a disturbance…

“Okay, um— you’ll be back here again, right?” She asked, pleading. “I want to try them all! I’m sorry…”

The truck’s owner laughed, smiling as they did. “Of course I will! You’ll be able to try each and every one of them this summer if you want. I’d just like it if you could make this choice now so that I can get to everyone else before all my ice cream’s melted!”

Bonnie nodded, giving them an apologetic look. “I’ll have the caramel cone then, please! Thank you for being so patient with me!”

The bao grabbed just the right cone, and handed it over. As Bonnie left, she noticed all the other customers - so many families were getting ice cream! It warmed her heart to see the little baos making their orders…

She smiled as she unwrapped her cone, and took a first lick. It was delicious! She hoped that each and every one of the others she tried in the future would be just as tasty.
