Diner Dash
Uh-oh.
Bonnie just froze as Bao talked things out with Rosebeary. She didn’t realize that Bao had expected her to pay! She guessed that was the price of assuming something…
Huh… it seemed like they’d agreed on something? Maybe Bao had a tab here? That would be nice, she thought. That way, she wouldn’t have to— huh?
She blinked as she was handed an apron from Rosebeary.
“...Um,” She said, “I’m— I’m sorry, I wasn’t really listening… what is this?”
Rosebeary raised his eyebrows, and then sighed.
“We’ve been short-staffed today,” He began, “So to pay off the food you just had, I thought that you could help wash dishes while Bao—”
He shot Bao a stern look. Bao just smiled awkwardly. “-Could work the register. I’ve got a few other things that need doing if you aren’t comfortable with it, but—”
“Oh, no, dishes are fine!” Bonnie smiled. She was glad that Rosebeary was so understanding of her situation - at least, a little more than Bao’s, it seemed. “I actually kind of like doing the dishes at home. It’s really relaxing, you know? All the soap and suds and just being able to relax with your thoughts!”
Rosebeary smiled softly. “It’s a little different when you’re doing it as a job, but I hope it’s still nice for you. Just let me know if you’d like to switch out to something different, okay? I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me.”
He turned to Bao. “...Bao, don’t give any discounts, even if they give you a sad face.”
It seemed like this has happened before. Bao frowned, giving Rosebeary a pleading look, but Rosebeary acted like he didn’t notice. All that was left for Bonnie was to go into the back and start working.
Their meal didn’t cost too much, so she’d just need to work for an hour or two - at least, that’s what she figured. The dishwashing sink was also cleaner than she expected it to be! This would be a breeze. Rosebeary seemed stern, but… he was kind, too. She hoped to visit again when she had the beans to afford an actual meal.
She put on the gloves that were by the sink, and began to fill the tub with water - making sure there were enough suds in it to work with. After that, she began to hum along to herself as she washed the dishes…
Would Rosebeary be looking for more employees, she wondered? If he was, maybe she’d like to work here…
She kept daydreaming about working at the bistro as she did today’s job.
