Second Breakfast

“Mmm! This is so good!”

Bonnie smiled as she watched Bao devour the plate in front of them. They’d ordered the bacon and eggs platter, which honestly looked pretty delicious. It was two sunny-side up eggs, and bacon arranged in a way to make it look like a smiley face. Very cute!

Bao let out a breath once they’d finished. “Phew! I was almost done for. You’ve saved my life!”

After smiling for a short moment, they raised their paw, signaling to Rosebeary. “...Could I have seconds?”

Rosebeary smiled as he shook his head, but he got right back to work in making another plate ready.

“So, what are you going to have?” Bao tilted their head to the side. Bonnie just blinked.

“Um— me? I already had breakfast at home,” She mumbled. It was true - she’d gotten a nice big bowl of fruity flake cereal right before she left this morning to check on Bao. It wasn’t too late in the day yet, so she didn’t really think that she needed anything more until lunchtime…

“Sure, but have you had seconds yet?” Bao smiled, as their own seconds just got delivered - they took a moment to dig in, before wiping their mouth with the back of their paw. “Seconds are always the best meal of the day!”

Maybe so. Rosebeary’s food did smell good, at least. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to grab something small as a snack? If she couldn’t eat all of it at once, then she could at least get a to-go box, and eat the rest during the tour Bao promised…

“Um, excuse me,” She said, raising her paw to catch Rosebeary’s attention, “What exactly… do you serve here? Other than breakfast foods, I mean! Do you have any recommendations…?”

Rosebeary hummed, tilting his head to the side as he thought. “Well, most people really like the smiley sunny-side, like what your friend’s having. But today, our special is rainbow waffles - they’re two waffles with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and rainbow sprinkles.”

Oh! That sounded like a wonderful treat! Bonnie nodded. “I’d love to have the special, then! Sweet foods are the best!”

Rosebeary nodded, getting to work to prepare the waffles. They were done before Bonnie even knew it - that was fast! She took a bite, and…

“Mmm! This is so good!!”

Bao laughed. “See? That’s Rosebeary’s cooking for ya!”

The two of them laughed, continuing to enjoy their second breakfast.
