1.2 Rosebeary’s Bistro
Bao and Zeester made their way down the main street of New Bao City, with Bao talking about all the best restaurants on the street. He made special mention of some place called “Rosebeary’s Bistro” raving about the food and the very forgiving Bistro owner. Zeester was a bit annoyed that Bao only vaguely told him about where the actually important buildings in New Bao City were, like the supermarket or the hospital. Maybe after Bao’s fed he’ll finally be a useful tour guide, instead of a starving foodie.
The two baos reached a quaint looking Bistro, with a rich aroma of baked goods wafting from the door. The sign above the bistro said “Rosebeary’s Bistro”, they had reached their destination! “Mmm I never get tired of this place’s smell!” Bao sighed and sniffed deeply.
Zeester took a step away from Bao not wanting to be associated with such a strange baobear. “So you can go get your breakfast now, and I can go find my way to my baopartment to unpack…right?” The surfer bao questioned, wanting a way out of this inevitable chaos.
“Of course not! We’re going to have breakfast together~ And then we’ll continue the tour after!” Bao replied chipperly, smacking Zee on the back enthusiastically, and opened the door.
The blue bao sighed and pinched the bridge of his snout. “Yeah of course not,” he groaned. Zeester entered the bistro following the food obsessed bao. Rosebeary’s Bistro had a chill ambiance, with a lot of tasteful rose decor lining the room. There were baos enjoying their various baked goods, while others were hard at work on laptops or pieces of paper while sipping on coffee.
A serious looking bao with a chef’s hat and thick eyebrows greeted them at the counter “Welcome to Rosebeary’s Bistro, what would you like to ord- ….ah it’s you, I hope you brought some beans this time Bao.” The chef looked pointedly at Bao, who in turn smiled nervously and looked away.
“O-of course! I would never dine and dash Rosebeary! I’m a bao of character!” Bao smacked his chest for emphasis. Rosebeary didn’t seem convinced. “Anyway! I’d like: bluebeary pancakes, two eggs over easy, bacon, sausage, hash browns, french toast, and a tall glass of orange juice!” The white bao listed off.
Rosebeary looked suspicious, not trusting that Bao actually had any beans with him, but he’ll squeeze some kind of payment from the baobear. “Okay, and will you be having anything?” He asked, turning to the ocean bao who had been completely silent until now, as if wishing he weren’t here right now.
Zeester flinched at being addressed, he was hoping he might be able to sneak out while Bao was occupied with ordering his food. This whole situation seemed like bad news… but Zee was starting to get hungry, and wouldn’t have any problems paying since he brought his wallet. “Um I’ll have a salmon bagel, and a kale smoothie, on a separate check please” Zeester answered.
“Wow, are you on a diet?!” Bao asked shocked, staring at Zeester like he was crazy.
“Not really, I just try to be mindful of what I eat since I’m an athlete.” Zee looked away, not enjoying being stared at.
Rosebeary cleared his throat “I’ll put your orders and get started on your food, please go seat yourself in our dining room.” The chef gestured to the area with seating.
“C’mon let’s go!” Bao exclaimed yanking Zeester to a window seat, and plopping down into a chair “Rosebeary’s pancakes are the best! Oh but so are egg tarts… and pies… and breakfast sandwiches” Bao droned on, drooling on the table.
“The food can’t come fast enough,” Zeester sighed.
