[Gift] Heaven's Yolks Upon The Planet’s Crust

Bud’s tummy grumbled, a clear signal that he needed to find breakfast. He could not go to Rosebeary’s for two reasons. Firstly, the chance to run into Bao was too high. Secondly, after Bao had tried to make him dine and dash, he would rather not go back for some time. He waddled around the city streets in search of a breakfast place. A large sign caught his eye. It read ‘Heaven’s Egg’.

What an interesting name… He thought. Bud decided to try it out. Once he was inside, he noticed it resembled a cozy living room made into a restaurant. When he re-read the sign closely, he saw that it was a bed and breakfast. Bud had never stayed at one before. 

A cheery voice greeted him. “Hi! Welcome to Heaven’s Egg.”

“Hello,” squeaked Bud.

“Are you looking to book a room with us?”

“I am just looking for breakfast,” Bud said.

They nodded and guided him further in. The venue opened up once they got past the cozy reception. Inside looked like a family-owned diner. Bud was pleased to have found a place where Bao will hopefully not be found at. He was seated at his table and told that the server will be with him shortly. While waiting, Bud looked through the menu. The dishes had the most interesting names, all relating to Heaven in some way. 

“Have you decided what you will get?” A new voice asked.

Bud looked up to see a bright and cheery baobear. “Oh, uh--I guess I will have the...Heaven's Yolks Upon The Planet’s Crust.” The description said it was egg benedict. 

“Wonderful choice!” He clicked his pen and wrote it down on a notepad. “I would recommend Heaven’s Golden Nectar to go with it.”

Bud had to refer to the description. Orange juice. “Sure.”

“Trust me, it’s really good.” He winked. “My egglets don’t refer to me as ‘Big Egg Boss’ for no reason.”

He blinked at him. Bud had no idea what the server was saying.

“Oh, haha. I guess I assumed everyone would know me. I am the owner of this fine establishment.” The baobear looked up proudly. “Quiche Benedict Eggerton. But you can call me Quiche,” he stuck a paw out to Bud. Bud shook it hesitantly. “Now, let’s get you your breakfast.” Quiche bounced off. Before Bud could even settle down, Quiche had come back with his breakfast and juice. “There you are.” The items were placed down in front of Bud.

“Thanks.” Bud was about to dig in when he noticed that Quiche was still standing there. He could not help but ask, “Is…something the matter?”

“Oh, not at all!” laughed Quiche. “I just love seeing customers take their first bite.”

Uncomfortably, Bud took a bite of his egg benedict. It was delicious, but it was difficult for him to enjoy it. Quiche stood by the table, a big grin plastered on his face. “U-uhm..it’s good..,” Bud said after a moment.

“As expected. We serve only the best eggs. Eggs from Heaven themselves.” The owner nodded. “The orange juice is like the cherry on top, or should I say…orange on top.” Quiche gave a hearty chuckle.

“Great…,” Bud responded awkwardly. He hoped the guy would just leave him to it.

“Well, if you need anything, just give me a shout.”

When Quiche finally turned and left him, Bud breathed a sigh of relief. He reexamined the food in front of him. The plate of food was going to fill him and then some; there was just so much food on the plate! Plus there was fruit garnish on the side which really added some colour to it. The whole plate was beautifully done. His orange juice tasted fresh and quenched his thirst. This is amazing, thought Bud. Just when he thought he could enjoy his meal, a familiar face appeared. 

“Oh boy! Breakfast!” Bao exclaimed.

Bud could not believe his eyes. Oh no…
