It was a quiet and peaceful night in early October in New Bao City.. that was until..

"Snork.. zzzZzz.....zzZ!!"

"Zzz... snore.. mm?"

Bao the baobear shifted against the cold touch of the mattress and the contrasting warmth of the blanket. His chest rose and fell rhythmically as he loudly snored.

A drop of wet drool trailed down to his now tangled fur as he began rising from his sleep. His eyelids fluttered open slowly, blinking repetitively to adjust to the surroundings. The baobear left the comforting embrace of the bed and checked the ticking clock in his room.

*squints*
"Hmm.. it's still midnight..."

"Ugh.. I'm sO... hungry.."

The baobear muttered to himself as he felt his stomach start to grumble, like that of a bottomless pit. It continued to grumble, urging to be fed.

*grumble* *rumble*

Overcame by midnight hunger, with whatever was left of his energy, Bao reached for the cold handle of the metal door. Now heading straight towards the kitchen passing through the dimly lit hallway, you could hear the light flickering about.

Though he was still feeling drowsy and deprived of sleep, he too was deprived of food. Sluggishly his paws took each step at a time, determined to fill his stomach with any delectable sustenance. Food is more important than sleep, according to Bao.

The lingering aroma of his leftover cookies wafted across the hallway. It reminded him of the taste of the buttery goodness he had earlier, and ooh the crunch too!

He licked his lips in pure excitement, imagining himself munching on the cookies once more. He quickened his steps, almost rushing towards the kitchen, no flying even — It was almost as if the scent was pulling him over.

"Cookies... You're mine soon..."
He chuckled wickedly, salivating from the buttery scent trail, his paws making a grabbing gesture as he finally reached the kitchen's entrance. 

The smell was only getting stronger, it aromatized the whole area. The tiny Bao reached closer expectantly towards the tall wooden table, where the cookies he had left lay.

The kitchen was shrouded with darkness, but with the help of the window, it enabled the baobear to properly inspect the item on the table. The windowpanes emanated the golden moonlight and the cool radiance of the blue-hued night sky. A luminous blue glow spilled all across the table, as well as the floor. Amplifying shadows upon the darker areas of the room.

Focusing on the table, Bao tiptoed with all his might.

"H-WhhAAt!!?"

"This can't be!... M-my cookies!! It's all gonneee!!!"

He shouted in utter surprise and dismay, his voice echoing past the hallway. His body trembled as he took a proper glimpse of the plate in front of him. Bao's face contorted in horror, just where did all the leftover cookies go?

Upon this tragic discovery, what was once excitement turned into disappointment. His features contorted sorrowfully, clenching his paw as tears began welling up from his eyes. The baobear's stomach continued to rumble, unable to be satiated. The only traces of the delicacy were crumbs littered across the kitchen. Just who stole his precious cookies? How could you do this, oh cookie thief!?

As Bao's wails continue to reverberate the whole place, a silent onlooker watches outside of the window. Its translucent body hovering above ground, the figure had some cookie crumbs attached to it. Putting on a sad and guilty look, the cookie thief could only watch the consequences of its actions, the aftermath of it all..
It couldn't help but ravage those appetizing-looking treats. Unable to resist the urge, the apparition is now left feeling sorry for the sorrow it had caused.
